The 8th edition (1995) introduced a 26-page vade mecum. This provided an indispensable summary guide and entry-point for all those seeking information about the world of early maps. For some of the sections the information (as a whole or in part) has been included in this 'Map History' site. The 9th edition (1998) contains updated versions of these texts.
