Because of a generous gift from Arthur Holzheimer, the Newberry Library, Chicago is once again able to offer short-term fellowships in the history of cartography.
Fellowships will be awarded for work in residence at the Newberry Library on projects related to the history of cartography or focussed on cartographic materials in the Library's collection. The fellowships will be awarded on the basis of an annual competition for periods of two weeks to two months. The amount of the award is up to $1,200. One to three fellowships will be awarded each year, depending on the availability of funds.
Applications are encouraged from scholars in all fields. Applicants must, however, have a Ph.D. or be Ph.D. candidates. The annual application deadline is in February.
Potential applicants should consult the library's fellowship page. Application forms may be requested from the Newberry Library, Office of Research and Education, 60 W. Walton Street, Chicago, IL 60610-3380.
